Transgenic Foods

¿What is Genetic Food?

Genes are the original blueprints of organism. An organisms genetic information is all contained in the cells´ nucleus. This is where the chromosomes are located. They are formed by protein chains called genes.

In molecular terms they are known as DNA (desoxrribonucleic acid) and each one contains a specific instruction. Each cell carries out their functions from these instructions. Genetic engineering is procedure that seeks to modify this information, mainly through artificial transfer of genes from one organism to another. Ex. Increasing a vegetables resistance or its nutritional value.

Reactions

This has caused independent analysts to become preoccupied. Fields where genetic experiments were taking place, were destroyed last year in Germany. Also, Switzerland, Austria and Luxembourg have prohibited its commercialization.

The Natural Law Party, worldwide group that tries for the Nature's Intelligence Resources be used to solving government problems, recently won a trial in Holand the largest supermarket chain in Holand, owned by Albert Heijin.  His company had given an inexact and description of genetically modified soy, manipulated by the company's free magazine, with a circulation of 1.8 million copies.

The Natural Law Party, presented a complaint to the Publicity Code Commission, which declared that Albert Heijin must cease his deceitful publicity, and 3 out of 4 allegations were justified. Albert Heijin is part of a multinational holding with chains of supermarkets in many countries worldwide. (Ex. Stop & Shop).

The Natural Law Party´s most important allegation is regarding the company's statement that the soy´s quality remained the same even after the genetic manipulation. The commission dictaminated any soy which has been genetically manipulated does not keep the same qualities. Its composition ahs changed and we can only state that the quality remains the same. This statement caused much confusion.
