FIBERS
Fibers are the
non-digestible parts of plants. They are essential for a healthy life,
even though they do not supply nutrients.
Fiber Types: Soluble and
Insoluble. Vegetable, fruits, cereals.
Soluble Fibers are those that can disolve in water, consquently forming
a gel in the intestine. This allows a more uniform glucose absorption in
the digestive tube. Constipation is created when the excrement softens.
Blood Cholesterol levels are
reduced due to less intestinal absorption. Fibers also create a satiated
sensation and reduces appetite. A daily consupmtion of 20 to 30gr if
fibers is recommended.
A fiber rich diet protects
the colon from cancer. Both fibers can be combined created a ¨dietetic
fiber¨.
