The word cereal is derived of "Ceres", one of the main Roman’s mythology divinities : Goddess of the agriculture.

The cereals have been the base of the human feeding, for the following reasons: They can adapt to diverse climates (except for strange cases) ending up being more than half of the total production of foods -FAO -. Because their low oil contained they can be stored for more time than other foods, conserving all their vital energy.

They have a very high yield (It is yielder per hectare than other foods).  The cost of production of 150 gr meat can feed 50 people with Rice.

The Cereals contain carbohydrates those which are the main basic element of our feeding.  When the cereals are wasting away in integral way they are not only assimilated in a gradual and durable form but they add fibers (to which are known infinity of properties, specially related with intestinal pathologies - until colon cancer).

It also contains compound carbohydrates, fiber, proteins, vitamins and minerals.
The combination between cereals and vegetables results in complete proteins.
